BAM, Biblioteca degli Alberi di Milano, is more than a park: a cultural and natural experience in the heart of Porta Nuova. Born in 2004 and built between 2017 and 2019, it hosts over 100 species of trees and spaces designed for meetings and activities. Privately managed, it is always open to the public, offering thematic itineraries, events and a regenerating environment to experience and discover urban nature especially with initiatives for children and families.<\/h5>\n

BAM: Why is it called the Library of the Trees?<\/h2>\n

BAM, the “Library of the Trees of Milan” is more an experience than a park.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This green lung, in addition to being itself a museum and a place of discovery, hosts hundreds of initiatives throughout the year aimed at making people live in the green by doing things.<\/p>\n

In April, to breathe the same air in the head of those who love and manage this park, I called them to explain what BAM was.<\/p>\n

Then I called Studio AG&P which, with a team also formed by the studio Ing. Ceruti and GAe Engineering, carried out the actual construction. What you will read below is the substance.<\/p>\n

How was the Biblioteca degli Alberi in Milan born?<\/h2>\n

The BAM was born in 2004 when the Arch. Petra Blaisse wins the related international competition with her Inside Outside project. However, construction does not start before 2017 and ends in 2019.<\/p>\n

It catches the eye, looking at the images of the park, how the design of the paths was very particular and characterizing the project from the beginning.<\/p>\n

These intersecting lines are the epicenter of the design, representing an illuminating solution for the mending of the surrounding areas, disconnected from the presence of overlapping urban interventions.<\/p>\n

In fact, the Porta Nuova area has undergone major transformations over the years – from the dismantling of the Varesine rides area to the urban development of the Garibaldi \/ Porta Nuova station to the construction of CityLife – which have led to the presence of unresolved but available areas.<\/p>\n

A far-sighted governance of Milan has therefore made possible the birth of this green lung in an area projected towards the future, but lacking in clean air.<\/p>\n

\n

The BAM is a botanical library. There are more than 100 species.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The trees are composed of “circular forests” also aimed at meeting: each creates a room in which things happen: benches for sitting, spaces for running or structures for playing.<\/p>\n

The paths that cross the park are an important element of the project and have been designed as a theme: the path of trees and that of blooms<\/strong> – especially in spring.<\/p>\n

On the last Sunday of the month there is always a free guided tour.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The flowery meadow inside the event park<\/h2>\n

This past spring we also witnessed a wonderful planting of “flowery meadow”<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The sowing of the “Prato Fiorito” in the first spring also inspired the loyalty campaign of BAMFriends with the delivery of a sachet of seeds – it cannot be proposed after March because the seeds cannot be planted at other times – see the article \u201cthe perfect lawn\u201d<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

We hope it will be proposed again next year so that we can join with joy.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Despite being a public park, the management is private as well as maintenance, which is handled by HW Style Srl of Lurano, which works on site daily through an entire fixed team.<\/p>\n

BAM: how and when to visit it<\/h2>\n

The park is always open to the public because it is not fenced. We recommend a trip to this beautiful tree library to everyone.<\/p>\n

If you are in Milan, or are planning to go there, a visit to the BAM cannot be missing from your tour.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Also take inspiration for your garden and then return home inspired and happy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

BAM: Perch\u00e9 si chiama Biblioteca degli Alberi?<\/h2>\r\n

BAM, la \u201cBiblioteca degli Alberi di Milano\u201d pi\u00f9 che un parco \u00e8 un\u2019esperienza.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

Questo polmone verde, oltre ad essere esso stesso museo e luogo di scoperta, ospita durante l\u2019anno centinaia di iniziative volte a far vivere le persone nel verde facendo cose.<\/p>\r\n

In aprile, per respirare la stessa aria nella testa di chi ama e gestisce questo parco, li ho chiamati per farmi spiegare cosa fosse il BAM.<\/p>\r\n

Poi ho chiamato lo Studio AG&P che, con un team formato anche dallo studio Ing. Ceruti e dalla GAe Engineering, ne hanno eseguito l\u2019effettiva costruzione. Quello che leggerete sotto ne \u00e8 la sostanza.<\/p>\r\n

Com'\u00e8 nata la Biblioteca degli Alberi di Milano?<\/h2>\r\n

Il BAM nasce nel 2004 quando l\u2019Arch. Petra Blaisse vince il relativo concorso internazionale con il suo progetto Inside Outside. La costruzione per\u00f2 non inizia prima del 2017 e termina nel 2019.<\/p>\r\n

Salta all\u2019occhio, guardando le immagini del parco, come il disegno dei percorsi fosse dall\u2019inizio molto particolare e caratterizzante del progetto.<\/p>\r\n

Queste linee intersecanti sono epicentro del disegno, rappresentando un\u2019illuminante soluzione per il ricucimento delle zone circostanti, slegate dalla presenza di interventi urbanistici sovrapposti.<\/p>\r\n

La zona di Porta Nuova infatti, negli anni ha subito grandi trasformazioni - dallo smantellamento della zona delle giostre Varesine al potenziamento anche urbanistico della stazione di Garibaldi\/Porta Nuova alla costruzione di CityLife - che hanno portato la presenza di aree irrisolte, ma disponibili.<\/p>\r\n

Una lungimirante governance di Milano ha quindi reso possibile la nascita di questo polmone verde in una zona proiettata verso il futuro, ma carente di aria pulita.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n

Il BAM \u00e8 una biblioteca botanica. Sono presenti pi\u00f9 di 100 specie.<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

Le alberature sono composte in \u201cforeste circolari\u201d finalizzate anche all\u2019incontro: ognuna crea una stanza nella quale accadono delle cose: panchine per sedersi, spazi per correre o strutture per giocare.<\/p>\r\n

I percorsi che attraversano il parco sono un elemento importante del progetto e sono stati pensati come a tema: il percorso delle alberature e quello delle fioriture<\/strong> - soprattutto nel periodo primaverile.<\/p>\r\n

Il Prato Fiorito all'interno del parco degli eventi<\/h2>\r\n

Questa primavera passata si \u00e8 anche assistito ad un meraviglioso impianto di \u201cPrato Fiorito\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n

La semina del \u201cPrato Fiorito\u201d nella prima primavera ha anche ispirato la campagna di fidelizzazione dei BAMFriends con la consegna di una bustina di semi - non si pu\u00f2 proporre dopo marzo perch\u00e9 i semi non possono essere piantati in altri periodi - vedi l\u2019articolo \u201cIl prato perfetto\u201d<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\r\n

Pur essendo un parco pubblico, la gestione \u00e8 privata come anche la manutenzione, che \u00e8 curata dalla HW Style Srl di Lurano, che lavora giornalmente sul posto tramite un\u2019intera squadra fissa.<\/p>\r\n

BAM: come e quando visitarlo<\/h2>\r\n
