Who is the Landscaper? and how do you become a landscaper?<\/h2>\n
There are two types of recognized landscape architects: the Landscaper<\/strong>, who attended the school of landscape design in Italy (we will delve into schools in another article) – and the Landscape Architect<\/strong> who specializes in Landscaping after graduating in architecture.<\/p>\n
There are, in truth, many other ways to become a Landscape Designer and we will talk about some of them later: a degree in botany, decades of experience as a gardener, agronomist or farmer.<\/p>\n
A good landscaper is not necessarily a good landscape architect because he attended the School of Landscaping and we do not exclude – indeed we applaud – those who have managed to reinvent themselves following the paths of life, but in this context we would like to point out the ‘institutional’ ways to become one.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
What are the differences between an Architect and a Landscaper?<\/h2>\n
Basically the second deals with living material and this involves knowledge of the soils, climates and therefore of atmospheric conditions.<\/p>\n
The landscaper knows many of the plants they work with – how much they grow, what soil they want, how much water they need, in what form they grow, what kind of maintenance they require, etc. – and if he does not know them he knows how to find the information needed to ensure that the plant gives its best in the situation in which it is inserted.<\/p>\n
The architect, in general, has a more aesthetic approach to the question: he chooses a plant because it has the size and colors he wants in that place. Usually – but not always – it underestimates all other aspects.<\/p>\n
There are many areas and many different spatial scales that a landscaper has to face.<\/p>\n
This professional is in fact able to optimize and embellish a simple terrace, perhaps private, with potted plants, sun mitigation structures – fixed or mobile, flooring – fixed or floating – and outdoor furniture.<\/p>\n
A much more complex job carried out by a landscape architect can be the creation or redevelopment of an outdoor public space – see the article “BAM: The park of events<\/a><\/span>” – or the design of a company terrace where it is not possible to insert living essences. .<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Some great landscape painters of the past, modern and contemporary<\/h2>\n
To have fun and get inspired we will talk about some wonderful big projects, but then we will discover that such ideas can also be brought into the small of a private garden.<\/p>\n

It is difficult to decide where to start to talk about famous landscape architects because every time you spot one you realize that without the previous reference you cannot describe it and you cannot talk about all of them.<\/p>\n

Another vate of landscaping is the Spaniard Fernando Caruncho<\/strong>. Like others, he discovered a passion for landscape design by studying architecture and it is a combination that he brings to all his projects, being convinced that architecture constitutes a complete unity with the garden.<\/p>\n

The preparation of an architect, in the context of building design, concerns, among other things, the distribution of spaces and the study of paths. Only after this are furnishings and colors chosen.<\/p>\n
The preparation of a landscape architect requires that everything learned for indoor design becomes the organization of outdoor spaces: the functions, the layout of the spaces, the study of the paths.<\/strong><\/p>\n
But the preparation of a landscape architect also allows you to furnish with plants by using his knowledge of essences<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

What is the difference between landscaper and gardener?<\/h2>\n
The Gardener has the ability to do the job unlike the Landscaper who is more focused on the creative part and uses a Gardener to build his idea.
If we wanted to simplify we would say that the landscaper designs simple or complex spaces, the gardener carries out the work. Usually, however, the situation is much more complex and a Gardener may also be able to think projectually. \nThe landscape architect has not only the task of designing a complex outdoor space, but of managing all the workers who pass through the garden when it is built.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
He is the first to arrive and the last to leave. He is the creative director and as such he relieves you from deciding things and solving problems.<\/p>\n
The gardener is hired by the landscaper and will answer only to him for his work.<\/p>\n
But how much does the work of a gardener cost? And that of a landscaper?<\/h2>\n
Both the landscaper and the gardener are able to give you a rough estimate of the work.<\/p>\n
The cost of the gardener is usually included in that of the work, therefore, his estimate will contain both the purchase of the necessary materials and his share which depends on what work he has to do.<\/p>\n
The landscaper’s estimate, on request, will include the items of the project only or \/ and the artistic direction including the materials and the cost of the gardener.<\/p>\n
If you have a landscape architect do the project, however, it is better to have him also do the artistic direction so that the project is respected in all aspects.<\/p>\n
The landscape architect’s share is usually around 10% of the total. The type of payment, on the other hand, depends from professional to professional. An example would be to pay him like an architect: as work progresses.<\/p>\n
\nIn the end, the landscaper allows the customer to get what he wants without making mistakes and without having to take care of the thing: turnkey.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
How important are the wishes of the client for a landscaper?<\/h2>\n
They are the basis of all the choices of the landscaper both at the beginning and during the work<\/strong>, unless these change the whole project, which may not be completely possible.<\/p>\n

Esistono due tipologie di paesaggista riconosciute: il Paesaggista,<\/strong> che ha fatto la scuola di paesaggismo in Italia - a Milano, a Torino, a Genova, a Firenze o a Palermo - e l\u2019Architetto Paesaggista<\/strong> che si specializza in Paesaggistica dopo la laurea in architettura.<\/p>\r\n

Quali sono le differenze tra un Architetto e un Paesaggista?<\/h2>\r\n
Sostanzialmente il secondo si occupa di materiale vivo e questo comporta, la conoscenza dei terreni, dei climi e quindi delle condizioni atmosferiche.<\/p>\r\n
Il paesaggista conosce molte delle piante con cui lavora - quanto crescono, che terreno vogliono, quanta acqua hanno bisogno, in che forma si sviluppano, che tipo di manutenzione prevedono, ecc. - e se non le conosce sa come reperire le informazioni che servono per fare in modo che la pianta dia il meglio di s\u00e9 nella situazione in cui viene inserita.<\/p>\r\n
L\u2019architetto, in genere, ha un approccio pi\u00f9 estetico alla questione: sceglie una pianta perch\u00e9 ha la dimensione ed i colori che desidera in quel luogo. Solitamente - ma non sempre - sottovaluta tutti gli altri aspetti.<\/p>\r\n
Ci sono tanti ambiti e tante differenti scale spaziali che un paesaggista si trova ad affrontare.<\/p>\r\n
Questo professionista infatti \u00e8 in grado di ottimizzare e abbellire un semplice terrazzo, magari privato, con piante in vaso, strutture di mitigazione del sole - fisse o mobili, pavimentazioni - fisse o flottanti - e arredo da esterni.<\/p>\r\n
Un lavoro molto pi\u00f9 complesso svolto da un paesaggista pu\u00f2 essere la creazione o riqualificazione di uno spazio pubblico all\u2019aperto - vedi l\u2019articolo \u201cBAM: Il parco degli eventi<\/a><\/span>\u201d - o la progettazione di un terrazzo aziendale dove non \u00e8 possibile inserire essenze vive.<\/p>\r\n

Alcuni grandi Paesaggisti del passato, moderni e contemporanei<\/h2>\r\n
Per divertirci e ispirarci parleremo di qualche meraviglioso grande progetto, ma poi scopriremo che si possono portare tali idee anche nel piccolo di un giardino privato.<\/p>\r\n
Prima i giganti del nostro passato prossimo, poi quelli moderni ed infine i contemporanei.<\/p>\r\n
\u00c8 difficile decidere da dove partire per parlare dei paesaggisti famosi perch\u00e9 ogni volta che ne individui uno ti rendi conto che senza il riferimento precedente non lo puoi descrivere e non si pu\u00f2 parlare di tutti.<\/p>\r\n
\r\nScelgo quindi di parlare di alcuni, forse coloro che pi\u00f9 hanno segnato la mia preparazione specificando che ci sar\u00e0 modo e luogo di parlare anche di tutti gli altri.<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

Cosa fa il Paesaggista? In cosa consiste il suo lavoro e la sua preparazione?\u00a0<\/h2>\r\n
La preparazione di un architetto, nell\u2019ambito della progettazione edilizia riguarda, tra le altre cose, la distribuzione degli spazi e lo studio dei percorsi. Solo dopo di questo vengono scelti arredi e colori.<\/p>\r\n
La preparazione di un architetto paesaggista prevede che tutto ci\u00f2 che si \u00e8 appreso per la progettazione al chiuso diventi organizzazione degli spazi all\u2019aperto: le funzioni, la disposizione degli spazi, lo studio dei percorsi.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n
Ma la preparazione di un paesaggista permette anche di arredare con le piante mettendo in campo la sua conoscenza delle essenze.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n
\r\nLe piante infatti sono esseri viventi e come tali necessitano di un ambiente adatto alla loro salute e crescita.<\/strong> Pi\u00f9 le piante sono scelte bene pi\u00f9 il giardino sar\u00e0 in salute e il proprietario sar\u00e0 felice.<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

Che differenza c\u2019\u00e8 tra Paesaggista e Giardiniere?<\/h2>\r\n
Il Giardiniere ha la capacit\u00e0 di eseguire il lavoro a differenza del Paesaggista che \u00e8 pi\u00f9 concentrato sulla parte creativa e si avvale di un Giardiniere per eseguirla.
Se volessimo semplificare diremmo che il paesaggista progetta spazi semplici o complessi, il giardiniere esegue i lavori. Di solito per\u00f2 la situazione \u00e8 molto pi\u00f9 complessa ed un Giardiniere pu\u00f2 essere anche in grado di pensare progettualmente. Esistono giardinieri che desiderano solo occuparsi dei lavori di costruzione e giardinieri che, invece, desiderano progettare alcuni tipi di spazi verdi.<\/p>\r\n
Se lo spazio da progettare \u00e8 particolarmente complesso ci si deve rivolgere ad un paesaggista.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n
