Kicking off in mid-June is a rich program of special events featuring culture, art, nature, wellness, and food and wine at 30 Foundation properties, exceptionally open until late.
A three-month journey from north to south Italy with over 350 unique visitor experiences, including concerts and theater performances, open-air film festivals, aperitifs and themed dinners, yoga sessions, family-friendly fairy tales, astronomical observations, and nature treks.
The initiative
From mid-June to mid-September 2026, 30 FAI (Italian Environmental Fund) properties will be decked out for summer nights.
Opening hours will be extended to host over 350 experiences spanning culture, art, history, nature, wellness, and flavors in 15 regions of Italy.
The long-awaited “FAI Summer Evenings” returns, a rich three-month calendar of unique and extraordinary initiatives to enjoy the timeless charm of the Foundation’s properties from new and unexpected perspectives.
You can attend a concert in the heart of the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, surrounded by centuries-old citrus and olive trees,
or in the magical atmosphere of the forest at the foot of the Basilica of Saint Francis in Assisi,
watch an arthouse film in the largest private park in Bergamo Alta,
or discover the secrets of the celestial vault on the night of San Lorenzo in a medieval castle.
Many unmissable opportunities
To regenerate, enjoying slower pace, quality time, and beauty, transforming every evening into an unforgettable memory for a visit that engages all the senses.
Literary and musical aperitifs, picnics in nature, festivals that recount and celebrate local traditions, candlelit visits, sunset hikes,
astronomical observations, yoga sessions, open-air cinema, fairy tales and stories for children, concerts, and theater performances.
Villa Rezzola
The FAI properties involved include castles, delightful villas, abbeys, natural areas, historic buildings, architectural masterpieces, and, for the first time, Villa Rezzola in Lerici (SP), a historic residence overlooking the Gulf of Poets.
From July 10th to September 18th, the splendid English garden offers guided sunset tours and tastings on the panoramic terrace.
We start on June 18th
The “FAI Summer Evenings” program kicks off the week of June 15th with two unmissable poetry events:
On Thursday, June 18th, Palazzo Moroni in Bergamo will host “Poetica. Voci di donne dal Rinascimento al Contemporaneo”, an evening dedicated to women’s poetry, from the Renaissance voices of Isotta Brembati and Tullia d’Aragona to contemporary poetry slam.
On Sunday, June 21st, the Orto sul Colle dell’Infinito in Recanati (MC) will host “Leopardi a prova di voce” an event curated by Roberto Galaverni.
Hundreds of initiatives
will continue until mid-September, from regenerative yoga sessions in nature at Villa Gregoriana in Tivoli (Rome)
to forest immersions in the I Giganti della Sila Nature Reserve (Cosenza).
You can enjoy sunset aperitifs in the garden of Velarca in Tremezzina (Como), the historic boathouse designed by the Milanese studio BBPR,
at Villa Necchi Campiglio in the heart of Milan, designed by Piero Portaluppi between 1930 and 1932,
and at Avio Castle in Sabbionara d’Avio (Trento), home to precious “Giotto-esque” painting cycles dedicated to love and war.
And for children?
There will also be plenty of events designed for children, such as bedtime stories read at the Orto sul Colle dell’Infinito
or the initiative dedicated to Nocturnal Creatures, walks to learn about the small mammals and nocturnal birds of prey that inhabit the park of the Castello di Masino in Caravino (Turin) and the Bosco di San Francesco in Assisi (Perugia).
There will also be festivals, such as the “midsummer” one at the Torba Monastery in Gornate Olona (Varese),
and the rediscovery of popular culture and traditions with Grika, the first event on Grika culture at the Abbey of Santa Maria di Cerrate in Lecce,
and the Night of the Christ of the Abyss, with the evening opening of the Abbey of San Fruttuoso (Genoa), a diver procession, and the village lit up by candles.
Lots of music too
There are many music-themed events to choose from: Jazz, Opera, and Swing Aperitifs at Casa Macchi in Morazzone (VA),
Traditional Calabrian music performances at the Giganti della Sila, Songs and Tales at the Abbey of Cerrate,
Flamenco dance, and live performances by artist Claudia Aru, saxophonist Juri Deidda, and violinist Simone Soro at the Saline Conti Vecchi in Assemini (CA).
The Goodnight Concert will be held at the Bosco di San Francesco, in the magical clearing of Michelangelo Pistoletto’s Terzo Paradiso.
Among the centuries-old citrus and olive trees of the Kolymbethra Garden in the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, Daniele Magro and young harpist Kety Fusco will perform.
And why not eat?
Good food will be the focus of many evenings, from the Medieval Dinner at Avio Castle, with curiosities about diet and table manners,
Dinner under the stars in the courtyard of the Torba Monastery on the night of San Lorenzo,
and sunset picnics in the scenic Italian garden of Villa Della Porta Bozzolo in Casalzuigno (VA).
There will be no shortage of open-air cinema
Following the success of the past “FAI Summer Evenings,” the series “Astronomers for a Night” will be offered at an increasing number of locations: observations of the starry sky led by experts and amateur astronomers.
There will also be open-air cinema in the gardens of Palazzo Moroni, Villa dei Vescovi in Luvigliano di Torreglia (PD), Castello della Manta in Manta (CN), and the Saline Conti Vecchi.
And a food and wine journey through fine wines and typical local products will be offered at
Fuori Cantina at the Giardino della Kolymbethra, Castello della Manta, and Villa Rezzola.
And what about romantic sunset visits?
And there are also special visits at dusk to discover the details and characteristics of the properties at an unusual time,
such as those at the Brion Memorial in Altivole (TV), a masterpiece by Carlo Scarpa, whose hidden mechanisms within the architecture will be revealed;
at Torre and Casa Campatelli in San Gimignano (SI);
at Villa Fogazzaro Roi in Oria, Vasolda (CO), a place of literary memory and the inspiration for Antonio Fogazzaro’s Piccolo Mondo Antico;
and at Villa Gregoriana, with its unique setting of ancient ruins, lush vegetation, and the roar of the Tivoli waterfalls, enhanced by the lighting system designed by master of light Mario Nanni.
Gran finale
On September 19th, Ars Sonora will take place at Villa Panza in Varese: a musical festival that will activate the property’s interior and exterior spaces, bringing the Villa’s permanent collection into dialogue with contemporary sound practice.
The event will open with a cello concert at dawn in the park and continue with a wide-ranging program that includes
live ambient sound, children’s workshops, guided tours, and DJ sets, concluding with a live concert at sunset by Lino Capra Vaccina.
