Autumn 2026 finally brings more pleasant temperatures and plenty of opportunities to enjoy gardens, nurseries, and plant-focused events once again. Despite a reduction in the number of plant fairs, the calendar features both long-standing traditions and new events across Italy—ranging from private gardens and conferences to FAI initiatives, nurseries, and events dedicated to nature and climate change. Finally autumn
We really have to say that the approaching autumn is a blessing this year!
We endured 25 consecutive days of temperatures well above the already high levels of previous years, and we are truly worn out. Who knows what kind of winter awaits us, but in the meantime, we are enjoying a warm, sunny autumn with cool, invigorating nights—putting us in the right frame of mind to visit exhibition markets.
What do we expect?
Although the number of trade fairs and exhibitions has decreased significantly again this year, the range of offerings remains vast and varied. They span from events prioritizing children’s play to those focused on highly engaging educational conferences—particularly those delving into climate change and how our own approach to caring for the environment must evolve in response.
Where do they take place?
Long-standing events such as Murabilia in Lucca, Nel Giardino del Doge Manin in Codroipo, and Horti Aperti in Pavia—to name just a few—remain unmissable occasions.
Nel segno del Giglio is opening its doors in autumn for the first time, as is the new Ben-essere in Natura event in Milan.
Then there are must-visit events like the 50 private gardens in Mantua opening to the public for Interno Verde, and the revamped version of Flormart—now called Greenitaly—in Parma.
Furthermore, Italian nurseries are once again opening their doors for the *Garden Festival d’Autunno* (Autumn Garden Festival); you can find out which ones on the linked map.
FAI welcomes visitors to some of its most beautiful properties in Milan and Caravino, while the Festa delle Salvie (Sage Festival) takes place on weekends at the Lavandeto di Assisi.
Autunno alla Landriana is another historic event, as are the Flower Shows in Perugia and Florence. And finally, La Conserva della Neve has returned to Rome.
Autumn Plant and Flower Markets 2026: Plenty of excuses to get moving
We stayed put this summer due to the oppressive heat, conserving our energy—much like our plants, which went dormant and are now blooming.
Now we can use that energy to visit various events, see beautiful things, enjoy good food, and buy top-quality plants.

A couple of tips:
During these events, highly useful sessions packed with essential information for plant growers are also organized. It is worth checking the website or social media page beforehand to see if there is a talk that interests you, and then attending on that occasion.
If you like a plant and it meets the criteria you are looking for, buy at least three—always an odd number—and arrange them in a staggered (quincunx) pattern along a line, rather than in a circle.
If you come across a plant you like but don’t recognize during your visit, ask the vendor about its characteristics; they will be able to provide all the necessary information.
For ease of reference, the events have been divided into three zones: North, Central, and South (including the islands). If you know of any events that aren’t listed, please let us know!
