Market exhibitions of plants and flowers 2023: Flowers in the Fortress

“If you have a garden with a library, you will lack for nothing”

This can be read on the side of the fireplace in the library that Senator Ugo da Como had written with also “Here the dead live, and mute, reveal oracles” to signify the importance of passing on the knowledge of books.

On the weekend of 14-15 and 16 April, the Flowers in the Fortress market exhibition was held in Lonato del Garda.

Flowers in the Fortress: The scenario of the market exhibition

The scenario is important and allows you to enter the event through a respectable arc.

The location of the Flowers in the Fortress market exhibition 2023

Fortress of Lonato del Garda

The fortress extends above all in length and has allowed the display stands to be arranged on three levels: the one inside the walls, where you can admire the handicraft works related and not to the world of greenery, the intermediate one, outside the walls, where plants , fertilizers and a very good coffee and the lowest one where associations and courses are presented.

The Captain’s House and the Casa del Podestà Museum

There are mainly two rooms in the fortress: the captain’s house which today houses a precious ornithological collection made up of around seven hundred beautifully preserved specimens and the podestà’s house museum.

This mansion of Venetian origin was purchased and lived in by Senator Ugo da Como who, as an enlightened man of culture and politics as he was, restored and lived in the property, maintaining its original appearance as much as possible and also making use of a beamed ceiling and painted lunettes and a pink marble fireplace belonging to the demolished Palazzo Cigola in Brescia.

Market Exhibition 2023: The plants on display in the Fortress

On the other hand, plants and flowers of very high levels were available on the lawns, presented by nurseries and farms prepared and available for the thousands of questions from visitors.

We discovered geraniums with lemon and mint scented leaves, ancient and modern roses and hydrangeas, natural fertilizers and phytosanitary products as well as enormous succulent plants and rare orchids.

Below we’ll let the images do the talking so you can inspire yourself and also contact the companies in case there’s something you like.
