28/06/23 – How to pave in the garden

Hello and welcome to the seventh episode of the TGi, the TeleGiardino.

The TeleGiardino deals with organizational and planning issues related to greenery.

In this seventh episode we will talk about how to pave in the garden.

The paving in a garden is used to go from one point to another or to stop in an area without getting dirty.

We can consider The Garden as a simplified version of the city

Where there are roads, which however serve only for pedestrian passage or for a few other vehicles.

So let’s start dividing the paths into two categories:

The pedestrian-only ones, which we will deal with in this video

And those both for pedestrians and for the passage of motorized vehicles.

Even if the philosophy with which we are preparing to build the route is the same

in the second case the layers will be greater both in thickness and in number.

So let’s talk about the pedestrian path.

Whether you decide to do it in stone beole, porphyry cubes or dirt, the preparation of the land will be very similar.

We see it in this section.

First of all, an excavation is made that is wider than the path and about 35 cm deep.

The bottom of the hole is compacted with the roller, perhaps including some large stones in the bottom.

Someone inserts geotextile fabric, but it’s not mandatory.

The side curbs are placed in the material you prefer (wood or stone) and make them protrude as much as the cladding.

One will be higher than the other to give a gentle slope (2% of the width) to the course

The slight slope is used to allow the evacuation of rainwater

It is filled with mixed granulometry gravel (the fine one on the surface if dirt) filling all or part of the path.

If you have to place gneiss or cobblestones on top, you will leave the necessary thickness.

It is no small matter to build it and we advise you to have it done by a professional

Thank you for following us and we hope we have been helpful. See you next Wednesday!

Now on horseback! Work awaits us! Our new wonderful outdoor space is about to be born!

GOOD WORK and… if you have any questions, write to info@mondodelgiardino.com
