The fourth episode of TeleGiardino is dedicated to “views to cover or enhance”, that is, what you see from the garden and towards the outside. Observing from various points helps to enhance beautiful perspectives and hide unwanted elements, using plants, walls or decorative elements. Visual problems can become creative opportunities.
Views to cover or enhance
Good morning and welcome to the first episode of the “BUILD YOUR GARDEN” course.
This section will deal with issues related to greenery of an organizational and design nature. In fact, on the internet you can find a lot of practical advice – very useful – but little on the organization and design of the work and the outdoor space and we will try to fill this gap.
In this fourth episode we will talk about how to identify and cover or enhance the elements that form the background outside the garden by studying the views to be covered or enhanced.
Let’s start from what we see in the garden.
Views are often also called “perspective fires”. Basically it is what we see when we look towards a point.
Once again the first important thing is observation. So we have to sit in the garden and look.
The importance of positioning a chair
In this specific case we will probably have to place the chair in multiple points of the garden.
Surely one of the places to sit is at the entrance to the garden. If there is a path that arrives at a point also at the end of the path.
While you are observing, from those points also notice what you can see outside the garden. If there are things that you do not want to see, you need to invent something to cover that part.
This element I am talking about can be a plant, and then you will have to choose it based on your tastes, but also on your needs, or an artificial element: a sculpture, an architectural element like a wall or a divider.
An important consideration
is that if you can’t put anything in the path, you can draw the eye to another point in the garden. Distraction from the ugly thing works well too.
If, however, there are parts of the garden that you don’t want to be seen from the outside, then you need to insert an element that blocks the view in that path.
And remember that problems generate original solutions!
